Poetry- Midnight Intruder
57The Midnight Intruder
We will always remember
That fateful night in December
It was the dead of night
With not a light in sight
We did not hear them coming
With the fans above us humming
The enemy came from far and wide
With no place for us to hide
As we were sleeping in our bed
While they were flying overhead
So twas not till morning
We found without warning
Not an untouched place
Upon our little baby's face
The intruder was of course
A Mosquito attacking with force
Now since that fateful day
Beside our bed is spray
We give them quite a dose
Before they get too close
As now you all should know
Tis the end of all my woe.
Where Are They?
Just a little note
How many nights does everyone lay in bed listening to that horrible sound of the mosquito.
I have found that we can spray but as soon as you start to doze off back they come.
Why do they sound so loud when in bed? You do not seem to notice them humming while sitting outside on the patio. I bet we could all associate with this problem.

I thought I was entering Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone!
Your style of writing is very engaging and I love your poetic vortex of mystery, surprise and intrique!
Eileen? What happened? Did you just receive a message from me or did it simply disappear?
As I was saying, I had to give up on the parrot, because the system only let me crop one way, always asking me to crop off the left hand margin where the beak was! I even tried reflecting the image, to have its beak on the other side, but no way.
Thank you for your help! Now I am in a hurry having spent more than an hour on the parrots. Bye. Presently I'll learn how to navigateget this site so as not to land so off-topic....
Can't stand the critical insects. It's like they know you're about to have a good nights sleep, then, you hear it, or you don't hear it but, bam, you're bit--pain--itch--more lost sleep, terrible. Glad the woe is at an end, especially for the baby. Good one.
Lovely, simply lovely - you are so expressive with your words...
A very nice twist! You might have heard me when I finished reading it and discovered it was about mosquitos...I was the one chuckling, saying, "Aw, man, no way."...hehehe. Really enjoyed this poem.
Lovely Poem....
Wish you a sleepless night by mosquitos
And here's me thinking your family were going to be attacked and brutalized...
by a mosquito!
Lovely and clever writing - thumbs up!
Nice poem. Luckily we have screens here, the mosquitoes have a tough time coming in, but once I start working in the gardens they come and bite us. We have to wear full sleeves. Instead of using sprays you should try a lotion, sometimes I put it when outside they don't bother me just the hands and the face a little.
