Where to find free crochet patterns
63Its so easy to find free crochet patterns
Crocheting is a great way to relax, while sitting in front of the TV in winter with a log fire warming you up or any time for that matter. What better place than your home to display all your brilliant creations, there, for everyone to admire. It could also be a means of earning those extra dollars in your free time. You can crochet baby clothes, doilies, or anything that others would be prepared to pay for. Sell in garage sales, through word of mouth, or sold on consignment through the local gift shops.
FINDING FREE PATTERNS
It is so easy to find free patterns if you are on the Internet, by using your web browser. If you cannot find the pattern you require, then try other browsers there are hundreds waiting for your keystrokes to find. To name a few try Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask.com, and Dog pile. Simply type into their search: free crochet patterns, you will be amazed at how much information is there for you.
Craftown is a very good site as a crafters resource center. It has loads of free patterns to copy. There are step-by-step directions to learn the basic crochet stitches, with picture diagrams. This site has an abbreviations page, which explains what they stand for in three different languages. It includes needle conversion charts to help you decide what sized crochet hooks to use. To top it off there is a forum to join, where you can receive and share helpful and troublesome ideas with other people.

If you do not have an Internet connection, do not despair. Go to your local libraries, they have heaps of information on any topic at all. The second hand bookshops have craft books on their shelves waiting for you. Women's magazines, or ask your friends for help. Check to see if there is a crochet club in your area. Face it, where did we go before the Internet, we tend to forget that life still goes on with out it for some of us.
Patterns are good, although you need to use your initiative. Could you imagine a clown's outfit without the frills in the neck, improvise. Let your inner creativity free; be daring, impulsive, experiment with colors, create something different to what the pattern suggests. Above all, enjoy what you are doing.
